Empowering the Heart of the Home: A Mother’s Day Special with KDSP and Jodiabaazar.com
We often talk about the "strength" of mothers, especially those raising children with Down syndrome. But strength isn't an infinite resource. It needs to be refueled.
In a beautiful tribute on Mother’s Day, Jodiabaazar.com and KDSP (Karachi Down Syndrome Program), joined hands decided to do more than just offer platitudes. We hosted a workshop titled “Taking Care of The Caretaker,” led by Clinical Psychologist Tazeen Mohsin. The goal wasn't just to "celebrate" these women, but to give them the actual, practical tools they need to survive the burnout that comes with "doing it all".

"You care for them. Let us help you care for yourself".
A Sanctuary for Self-Care
The session, led by Tazeen Mohsin, a Clinical Psychologist and Corporate Trainer, was specifically designed for the overwhelmed mothers and caregivers of children with Down syndrome. In the photos

Refilling an Empty Cup
The room wasn't filled with the usual Mother's Day clichés. Led by clinical psychologist Tazeen Mohsin, the session dived into the heavy stuff—emotional regulation, the mental load of caregiving, and the "Power of Pause".
Participants explored essential well-being topics such as:
-
Emotional Regulation: Learning to manage the high-stress demands of full-time caregiving.
-
The Power of Pause: Techniques to reset, breathe, and reconnect with oneself.
-
Practical Tools: Easy-to-implement strategies for daily life.
-
A Calm Mind: Understanding that a regulated and restored caregiver can provide better support to their loved ones.
It was a rare afternoon where the focus wasn't on the child's development or the child's needs. For a few hours, the focus was entirely on the women in the room. They shared the reality of being "overwhelmed" and walked away with practical tools to reclaim their own mental space.
Moments of Connection
While the mothers were inside doing the hard work of self-reflection, the atmosphere outside was pure chaos in the best way possible. The kids were busy leaving their mark—literally.
Between the colorful handprint art on tote bags and the kids posing for "Instagram" frames, the building was alive with the very joy that these mothers work so hard to protect. It was a vivid reminder of why "Caring for the Caretaker" matters: a resilient mom is the foundation of a thriving child

The children were treated to their own set of fun activities. The joy was palpable.

The day was truly a celebration of the "strength of women who do it all," a sentiment echoed in the photo collage
